Three children and three staff members were killed yesterday by a heavily armed former student who shot open a locked door at The Covenant School, a private Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee, authorities said. Three 9-year-old students, a custodian, a substitute teacher and the head of the school were fatally wounded by Audrey Hale, 28, who was killed by responding officers, police said. The three students killed were Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney, police tweeted. Substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, 61, school head Katherine Koonce, 60, and custodian Mike Hill, 61, were also killed, police said. The shooter, who was transgender, had "maps drawn of the school, detail of surveillance, and entry points" in planning the attack, and may have been fueled by a sense of resentment, police said. A reporter covering the Nashville shooting shared on-air that she is a school shooting survivor.
Joylyn Bukovac, a reporter for local station WSMV 4, was on the scene at the shooting at a private school in Nashville yesterday when she shared that she survived a school shooting as a child. She said she was in eighth grade when the shooting occurred in 2010. Now a parent herself, she also shared what she learned from surviving the ordeal. "My biggest advice is for all the families here: If your student witnessed the unthinkable today, just be very gentle with them and let them talk when they’re ready, because the shock that they’re going to be feeling when they’re coming home is going to be unfathomable," she said on air. "I know, I was actually in the hallway when the gunman opened fire in my school shooting." Bukovac did not publicly share which school shooting she survived. On Feb. 5, 2010 — the date she mentioned — a 15-year-old student at Discovery Middle School in Alabama shot and killed a 14-year-old peer. See the full story here
Jeremy Renner walks in a new video nearly 3 months after his snowplow accident.
Jeremy Renner shared a video of him walking on a treadmill, a major milestone after being run over by a snowplow in January. The "Hawkeye" star, who said broke more than 30 bones, shared the first images of him back on his feet since the New Year's Day accident that nearly killed him. "Now is the time for my body to rest and recover from my will," he wrote on his social media channels. See the video here

Sam Gouveia, 9, a neurodivergent fourth-grader from Massachusetts, is often teased at school by peers who don't understand his interests, according to his father. However, at home and now on TikTok, he is a legend for the thoughtful gift he gave his dad. A video shared by Aaron Gouveia shows Sam giving his father a shirt he created in an after-school sewing class. "You made that?" Aaron says like a proud dad. He then models the shirt in the mirror, and the camera pans to show Sam beaming with pride. The feedback on his shirt has been so overwhelming, Sam said he's happy to take orders for anyone else who wants one. "He hasn’t wanted to make things for people," Aaron told TODAY.com. "He has a lot of anxiety and doesn’t want to disappoint anyone. But after reading all the positive comments, he was like, ‘Well, I can do it!’”
