Sarah Verardo, a North Carolina mom of three, shared an emotional look into how she describes the effects of her military husband's traumatic brain injury, or TBI, to her young daughters. Recently, she explained to her 7-year-old why she doesn't go on dates with her husband, Sgt. Michael Verardo, who was catastrophically wounded when he stepped on an IED in Afghanistan in 2010. “I often tell the girls, 'Dad has a sleepy brain — it seems like his brain and body keep changing, but he still has the same heart,'” she told Today.com.
