Rescuers in Turkey said this morning that they're ready to begin the process of freeing an ill American caver stuck more than 3,000 feet underground in the Morca cave, the third-deepest cave in the country. Mark Dickey, 40, said in a video yesterday that he is recovering after suffering gastrointestinal bleeding last weekend, and there is now a doctor and a paramedic with him in the cave. “As you can see, I’m up, I’m alert, I’m talking, but I’m not healed on the inside yet, so I’m going to need a lot of help to get out of here," he said. Doctors said Dickey is well enough to be slowly extricated from the cave starting this weekend. Here's the latest

Paqui, the makers of the extremely spicy tortilla chips that come in a coffin-shaped box marketed as the "One Chip Challenge," said yesterday that they are voluntarily pulling the product from shelves. The decision came after a woman from Massachusetts said her 14-year-old son died of complications from eating a single chip whose seasoning includes two of the hottest peppers in the world: the Carolina Reaper and the Naga Viper. An autopsy has not yet revealed his cause of death. The "One Chip Challenge" has existed since 2016 and the company has encouraged people to post pictures on social media of their tongue turning blue from eating the chip. Continue reading

Don't stress over the small stuff and help kids stay safe with these 5 "nonnegotiable" rules from Dr. Sami, a pediatrician and mother who runs an account called @thepedipals on TikTok. Screen time and fretting over whether your children eat organic food shouldn't be big priorities, she says. Instead, vaccinating your kids, using car seats, and making sure they wear helmets on bikes, scooters or skateboards are important ways to keep them safe from serious health issues. It sounds like something that could work on a hot day: Lipton Black Tea with ice and Sprite. But is the latest TikTok trend actually refreshing, or a dirty soda concoction that should never be spoken of again? Dietitian, native Texan and iced tea aficionado Heather Martin gave it a shot for us. She ended up on Team Disappointed. "It tastes like bottled Lipton and is only faintly carbonated," she wrote. She did find one alternate mix that didn't taste like "ho-hum in a bottle": cold brew tea bags seeped in Canada Dry. Read more.

There are TODAY fans, and then there's these two. Ben Hebert and Mindy Shore are such superfans they decided to share their love with the world by getting married on Rockefeller Plaza live on TODAY yesterday. The Chicago couple also got engaged on TODAY back in February, with a smiling Hoda standing by. The two invited 25 friends to make the trip to New York City for their special nuptials, which included Hoda officiating and Al Roker walking Mindy down the aisle since her father passed away recently. “The fact that I have such an affinity for Hoda, and we have such fond memories coming to New York, it just seemed like this wild and crazy, spontaneous thing that felt so right for who we are as a couple,” Mindy said.
