Strip the daily duties from your CV – that's the advice of Ex-Nvidia recruiter Stefanie Fackrell. A CV should focus on accomplishments, not a tick-tock of what you do, she tells CNBC Make It.

Explain how you completed projects or produced revenue. Keep the format simple. No colour, charts or photos, Fackrell says. A simple format creates an easy read – and an easy read with clear outcomes snags the recruiter's attention.

Also, when listing the duration of employment in a given role, add months as well as the year. Only giving the year won't necessarily be a red flag, but it could give recruiters pause and make them think, "what are they trying to get away with?" Fackrell says.
