Today we would like to introduce you to the “Format painter” function, which allows you to transfer formatting from one place in a document to another in a flash. Using it, you can easily match the formatting of different parts of the text.
The "Format painter" function is equally available in TextMaker, PlanMaker and Presentations and is very easy to use:
- First, select the character whose format you want to transfer. You can also select multiple characters; however, they should all have the same character format.
- Click on the Format painter icon on the ribbon tab Home.
- The mouse cursor then changes into a brush:
- Drag the mouse (with the mouse button held down) over the characters to which the format is to be transferred.
- If you want to transfer the format to other pieces of text, repeat the previous step as often as required.
- When you are finished, click on the Format painter icon again or simply press the Esc key.
Please read the complete description in the online manual. There you will also learn:
- how to transfer paragraph formatting in the same way, and
- how you can transfer formatting even faster with shortcut keys.
