President Biden's drug czar labels fentanyl laced with an animal tranquilizer as an "emerging threat" to the U.S. as overdoses increase. Plus, experts weight in on the fruit that is going viral for supposedly being able to cure constipation, and a pediatrician shares the 9 "secret" milestones parents should watch for with their infants and toddlers.
The director of the Office of National Drug Policy declared today that fentanyl mixed with xylazine, an animal tranquilizer known as "tranq," has been linked to a rising number of overdose deaths in the U.S. and represents "an emerging threat." The declaration from Dr. Rahul Gupta requires the Biden administration to develop a federal response plan in 90 days. Xylazine is not approved for human use, and people who inject it can develop flesh wounds, including blackened, rotting tissue, according to the DEA. “We must act and act now," Gupta said on a conference call with reporters.
The Tupperware party may be over, as the legendary food storage brand that enjoyed a resurgence during lockdown in the pandemic warned it could be headed for default. The Florida-based company announced that if its lenders demand payment for maintaining access to the company's main line of credit, Tupperware "does not have the financial resources to repay such obligations." Tupperware still has more than $1 billion in global sales, but reported a loss of $28.4 million in the most recent quarter. The company's share price fell to less than $2, compared to about $100 a decade ago.

The hashtag #yellowdragonfruit has more than 110 million views on TikTok because people want to know if it will have them (willingly) running to the bathroom. The fruit is being touted as a natural laxative to combat constipation, and we spoke with a pair of dietitians to see if that is actually true. Yellow dragon fruit's high fiber content does make it a natural laxative, but if you already get a lot of fiber in your diet, it won't offer much more benefit for your bowels and digestion. The experts also spoke about whether eating yellow dragon fruit has any unpleasant side effects, and what else you can do it if you're looking keep things moving. Read more.

There are the obvious early childhood milestones parents celebrate — first steps, first word, crawling — but there are other, lesser-known developmental behaviors that parents should also have on the checklist. Dr. Sami, a pediatrician who shared some of those "secret" milestones on TikTok recently, spoke to us about 9 behaviors that are commonly overlooked and how parents should approach them. Some of the things she says parents often ask about are frequent hiccuping, yanking hair, shaking or trembling, lying or making up stories. So are those normal behaviors? See all her tips here.

If you went out and bought an air-fryer and it's sitting there collecting dust, we have two easy recipes that will get you firing it up again. This bang bang shrimp rice bowl (above) from "Fit Men Cook" founder Kevin Curry uses cauliflower rice and a cornflake coating on the shrimp for some crunch and a hint of sweetness. It's not so much that this 4-year-old girl is against gender reveals — it's more what was actually revealed that's the problem. Utah mom Angela Holm shared an Instagram video of her three children reacting to cupcakes that were infused with blue frosting to reveal a baby boy is on the way. Her daughter Vienna, who already has two brothers, promptly burst into tears once she saw the center of her cupcake. "It's a boy," she sobs. "I wanted it to be a girl." Holm tries to calm her, but forget that idea. "But it’s blue, I wanted pink!” Vienna explains. Meanwhile her brothers Zakkri and True are all smiles. Holm is one of 11 children herself and plans on having a large family, so Vienna just needs to be patient. “She’ll get her baby sister,” Holm told TODAY.com. “I know it.” See the video.
