An Illinois girl whose disappearance was featured on Netflix's "Unsolved Mysteries" last year was found alive in North Carolina last week, six years after she was allegedly abducted by her mother. Kayla Unbehaun, 15, was 9 when she went missing in 2017 while in the care of her mother, who did not have legal custody. Heather Unbehaun, 40, was arrested in Asheville on a fugitive charge, while Kayla was reunited with her father in Illinois. Her case was featured in an episode of "Unsolved Mysteries" in November 2022 that was mentioned in the police report regarding her mother's arrest. A woman at a store in Asheville recognized Heather Unbehaun from "published media" and contacted authorities, police said. Read more here.

The Secret Service is investigating how an intruder was able to get inside the home of White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan in the middle of the night a few weeks ago. The Washington Post cited three government officials who said the incident occurred around 3 a.m. one night in late April and that the intruder was not detected by Secret Service agents guarding Sullivan's home in Washington. "Any deviation from our protective protocols is unacceptable and if discovered, personnel will be held accountable," a Secret Service spokesman said yesterday. The spokesman did not say what happened to the intruder or if the person had an encounter with Sullivan. Here's the latest.

A woman who tracks her two children using bracelets embedded with Apple AirTags has sparked a debate about protecting your kids after a TikTok she posted about it went viral. "I am extremely paranoid about everything (related to) safety," North Carolina mom Vada Stevens, whose kids are 2 and 4, told TODAY.com. "I thought the bracelets were genius." Stevens, whose daughters are homeschooled, uses them on family outings and sleepovers at grandma's, and she is teaching her children to run to her when the bracelets beep. "I want to make sure that if anything were to happen, I can track my kids immediately," she said. Stevens said she has not read the comments in the TikTok video, which has more than 1.5 million views. "I don't care if people think I'm crazy," she said. "In this day and age, you can't ever be too protective."

A party celebrating all the May birthdays at one Florida office dissolved into laughter thanks to a cake order that was taken a little too literally. TikToker Tefi Pessoa shared what happened when the receptionist from her mother's office ordered a cake from a local Publix using the grocery's app. Just like a bakery at one Costco that took instructional drawings a little too seriously, this Publix carried out the directions exactly as they were written. “When my mom opened the cake in front of everyone, they were unable to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ because everyone was just dying from laughter," Pessoa told us.
