If you're traveling for Memorial Day weekend this year, brace yourself for some of the largest crowds in nearly two decades. An estimated 42.3 million people are expected to travel this weekend, up 7% from last year, with an expected jump of 11% for those taking a flight, according to AAA. This could be the busiest Memorial Day weekend at airports since 2005, and one of the biggest issues is having enough pilots and air traffic controllers. The Big Apple is one particular area of concern, as flights out of New York City are expected to see delays jump 45% due to staffing issues. Prices to fly to cities like New York, Orlando, Las Vegas and Miami could skyrocket 40% compared to last year, per AAA. Here's what you need to know about the busiest airports, gas prices and the best time to travel this weekend. And if you're booking a last-minute getaway, here's how to score a deal. |

Four people have now died from a drug-resistant bacterial infection traced to contaminated eyedrops, the CDC said. At least 81 infections have been identified in 18 states, including New York and Florida, up from 68 cases in March. In addition to the deaths, 14 people have been blinded and four others had their eyeballs surgically removed. The infections come from a specific strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria that has proven impossible to control with standard antibiotics. EzriCare Artificial Tears, Delsam Pharma's Artificial Tears and Delsam Pharma's Ointment, which are all manufactured by Global Pharma Healthcare in India, have been linked to the outbreak. |

We spoke with a child psychologist and a licensed clinical social worker about strategies they've found helpful with their own children. They shared 5 things they don't do with their own kids, including avoiding talking about food in a shaming way, never invalidating their emotions, and steering clear of big conversations at bedtime. One key is to acknowledge that every child is different, and parents shouldn't feel like they are doing something wrong. "Everything's trial and error," one says. "No parent wants to be judged." See all the tips here. |

Should a recently graduated high school student have to pay rent to live at home if they aren't going to college yet? Texas couple Cody and Erika Archie say yes. They explained in a TikTok video that they charged their then-18-year-old daughter Kylee $200 per month while she mapped out her future. "If you don't know what you want to do, work until you figure it out," Erika told TODAY.com. We had a clinical psychologist weigh in on a debate that has divided parents on the internet. As for Kylee, 19, she moved out in February and now lives with her aunt, where she babysits her nieces and nephews in exchange for not having to pay rent. |

A little pick-me-up before you go. |
Monique Davaul and Lamar Logan may want to hold off on having any more children unless they are eager for quadruplets. The couple from Virginia first welcomed a son, then had twin boys and now have added triplets. Monique and Lamar already had son Messiah, 8, and twin sons Nasir and Sincere, 6, when a third pregnancy doubled the couple's amount of children. Monique gave birth to daughters Mielle and Noelle and son Jihad on April 12. She remembered her doctors asking if she conceived naturally. "I said, 'You think I will do something to have three kids at once? I already have three at home!'" she told TODAY.com. She also said she is gradually adapting to her large family. "I guess God is looking over me. It's my job as a mother to provide for my babies." So will they try again and possibly end up with quadruplets? "I haven't thought about that," she said. "Lord Jesus." See more photos of the family here. |
