[ltr]A multistate manhunt is underway for an Army reservist suspected of being the gunman behind the mass shooting at a bowling alley and a bar in Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday night that left 18 people dead. Residents of Lewiston and nearby Auburn have been urged by officials to shelter in place, and many schools and businesses remain closed as the manhunt continues. Meanwhile, the father of one victim told NBC News' Lester Holt that hearing from police that his son was a hero who tried to stop the gunman "made it worse." [ltr] These popular chocolate products may contain unsafe levels of heavy metals, study finds. [/ltr]

[ltr]A study published in Consumer Reports tested 48 chocolate products from major retailers and specialty brands and found the heavy metals lead and cadmium in every one, including 16 products that exceeded levels of concern. Long-term exposure to cadmium can cause cancer, while exposure to lead can lead to neurological issues. Consumer Reports detailed 11 products, from brands like Hershey's and Starbucks, with the highest levels of cadmium and lead, and 10 products with safer levels. The menus at the Toccoa Riverside Restaurant spell it all out with a warning: “Adult surcharge: For adults unable to parent $$$.” One couple who recently dined there with a big group of adults and kids thought everyone had been well-behaved, but they were slapped with a $50 fee for the kids being "too loud" and "running around outside."
