A tentative agreement announced yesterday by the NCAA and the nation’s five biggest conferences could signal a seismic change in college sports: paying the players. The nearly $2.8 billion settlement in a series of antitrust lawsuits would be paid out to 14,000 current and former college athletes starting as soon as the fall of 2025.
