My LinkedIn inbox terrifies me.
It’s a tumbleweed ghost town full of thousands of demands and uncomfortable interactions I’ve avoided for years.
But when Linda Le:sunflower: messaged me asking if I had time for a coffee chat, I said yes. Her message was different than the others. At the time, I was feeling a little lonely in the content creation space. I saw instagram creators getting together and having fun, I wondered why that was less of a thing on this platform…
A few months, moves, and timezone changes later, we made that virtual chat happen and immediately had the best conversation you could have with a stranger! We set up weekly text check-ins which quickly turned into virtual tv show binging and movie watching girl nights.
We knew we had to meet face to face and FINALLY Linda made it happen. She took an overnight flight to me where I waited with an energy drink, weekend of Nashville exploration ideas, a ton of board games and pizza and cupcake baking plans, and of course, our weekly movie night. It was so much fun and ended much too soon.
It’s neat to spend time with another content creator who feels a drive to do more with the day than clock in and clock out. In a virtual space full of self promotion, Linda’s desire to make difference in corporate America with her content inspires me so much. Meeting her irl was even cooler. :relaxed:
LinkedIn is not just a place to upload your resume. It’s a place to find your dream job, build community around your passions, and even help you meet your favorite people. How could I have found such an awesome board game buddy without one courageous LinkedIn message?
