‘NO CONTACT’ POLICY
When Hamas emerged victorious in the 2006 elections held in the Palestinian territories, the EU decided to boycott the new government until the group agreed to recognise Israel and renounce violence. As Hamas refused to do so, the bloc imposed a strict “no contact” policy, cutting all ties with what it considers to be a terrorist organisation. In hindsight, was this a mistake? Euronews speaks to two experts who are deeply divided on the EU’s decision to isolate Hamas.
THE WARSAW RESET
The final results from the closely-watched elections in Poland indicate the three opposition parties have enough parliamentary seats to form a majority coalition, which could represent a turning point for the country after eight years under the hard-right rule of the Law and Justice (PiS) party. The possible return of Donald Tusk as Polish prime minister has raised hopes of a reset in the strained relations between Warsaw and Brussels. Vincenzo Genovese has the post-election analysis.

Save the date: Spain, the current holder of the EU Council’s presidency, intends to put the Schengen accession of Romania and Bulgaria to a new vote in early December. “We're trying to reach that agreement and I cross my fingers, but we're working very hard on it,” said Fernando Grande-Marlaska, Spain’s interior minister. But accepting new members in the passport-free area requires a unanimous vote and Austria is still firm in opposition.
SOURCE OF NIGHTMARES
Facebook’s only requirement for working as a content moderator in the Spanish city of Barcelona was to know the local language. It seemed like an attractive position, with a salary that could reach €2,400 per month for viewing between 300 and 500 videos per day. However, for some, it turned out to be a bad decision. More than 20% of the staff Meta hired to check violence content are on sick leave due to psychological trauma. Laura Llach brings us this unsettling story.
