The Texas Supreme Court yesterday ruled against a pregnant woman who challenged the state's abortion ban because her fetus had received a fatal diagnosis. The court's ruling came hours after the attorney for Kate Cox, a mother of two who is 20 weeks pregnant, said she would travel outside the state to have an abortion "due to the ongoing deterioration" of her health. Cox's fetus has trisomy 18, a rare chromosomal disorder likely to cause stillbirth or the death of a baby shortly after birth. "Kate’s case is proof that exceptions don’t work, and it’s dangerous to be pregnant in any state with an abortion ban," her attorney said. Here's the latest.
