Why shouldn't you boil hot dogs?

Why shouldn’t you boil hot dogs? I beg to differ. I think you SHOULD boil hot dogs.
Until recently, I’d always grilled my dogs over an open flame. They’d always look so nice when I’d first remove them from the grill, but a few minutes later would end up looking withered and sad. And not to mention the mouth puckering salt concentration.
This was until a few weeks ago when I tried boiling them for the first time. Wow… boiling was sooo much better. They were nice and plump and retained that “snap” you hope for when biting into a dog.
I brought about a quart of water to a low boil, dumped the dogs in, and watched them immediately sink to the bottom. 4 or 5 minutes later, like magic, they bubbled back up to the top where I retrieved them with my tongs and promptly placed them into the awaiting buns.
(this is not a picture of my dogs ~ thanks internet)
Please. Dress your dogs however you like, but I chose to top one dog with stone ground mustard and “fresh” crunchy sauerkraut, and the other with no bean chili and a slice of American cheese (actually, with the cheese on the bottom). Bomb!
Perhaps there is a better cooking method, but unless I’m stuck at a picnic, my dogs are getting boiled from now on.
