Alyssa Cleland, 26, was born with a condition that forced her to wear a prosthetic leg when she was just 4 years old, soon after she had been adopted in the U.S. from Ukraine. "I got bullied and teased. I cried a lot. It was really hard. I didn’t have a lot of friends," she told TODAY.com. She turned to Paralympic sports for solace, and then weightlifting. Working on her body has made her "confident and happy," while the discipline required has also helped her advance in her career. Read her story here.
